The new face of Giorgio Armani fragrances reveals what it's like to switch from actor to model, and what he finds attractive in a woman...

From Star Trek to This Means War, from Captain Kirk to the new Giorgio Armani fragrance campaign, there’s very little that isn’t sexy about leading man Chris Pine.

But what does he find sexy? To celebrate the launch of Armani Code Ice, the A-list actor talked about making the transition from actor to model, his favourite scents, beard-trimming and his penchant for a pair of high heels...

On being the new face of Armani Code Ice...

“I laughed at first! I imagined seeing myself on posters in airports as ‘that guy,’ but I was really flattered though. Mr Armani's elegant, simple and tasteful and it’s been great to be able to work with someone like that.”

On what he finds sexy in a woman...

“I think high heels are the best invention in the last hundred years! It’s all about how you wear them and how you feel in them. Seduction comes from who you are and how you sit in your skin when everything else is stripped away. That’s sexier than anything. The rest is to help with the spell.”

On the new fragrance for men...

“I like the complexity of this fragrance as I like something that grows on the skin. I’m attracted to woody, earthy scents. This is citrus and light, but the base note [a smoky, woody note] resonates with me as it reminds me of a fireplace at home and summers in Montana.

“I appreciate scents that invite you to come in and work with your chemistry. There’s something very sexy about that.”

On the scents that remind him of London and LA...

“In London, I have to say it’s tobacco! [laughs]. Rollies and a pouch of fresh tobacco.

“In my hometown of LA, there's a smell that’s so crisp between March and April. There are clear blue skies and a wind that just blows everything away – it cuts your nose. It’s cold, clear and wakes you up. It’s all about cut grass, wood and fires.”

On his new beard...

“I’m getting more into beard-trimming! [laughs] I actually just found a beard brush in New Zealand. I went into a store there and found a shoe buffer which I use in front of the TV.”

On being a leading man...

“It’s interesting being a leading man. What’s difficult is that you disappear, but not as much, just enough to carry the film. You have a different task. Sometimes you disappear, but your confidence carries you through.”

On roles that he wouldn’t do...

“Not too much dark stuff. I always used to think that I would do [those sorts of roles], but now I prefer comedy.”

On his art...

“I’m quite a serious person by nature which is usually quite hard. As I’ve gotten older, you strive more for joy. Why not? It reminds you how fragile life can be and how easily it can all be taken away. Art should give you joy.”

On if he had to choose one moment to live over and over again...

“None, I believe in moving forward constantly.”

The new Armani Code Ice collection will be available at the end of April.
