Feedback “This blusher was extremely easy to use and gave me a really nice pop of colour on the apples of my cheeks. Easy to blend, the mixture of colours allowed me to highlight and sculpt a little bit too, and it’s so lightweight and compact that it will certainly take up residence in my handbag as a great pick-me-up for when I'm on the go.”

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks in Powder Pink

Price £18

Feedback “I've heard lots of rave reviews about this award-winning product and now I know what all the fuss is about. Firstly, it’s a great little compact with a handy mirror which just so happens to be the perfect size - big enough to see how you're applying your make-up, yet small enough so that it doesn't take up much space in your bag.

"Secondly, I usually only ever wear powder blushers but this creamy blush actually gave a much more natural looking flush of colour to my cheeks. It also doubles as a great lip stain and surprisingly worked just as well with my olive skin and dark hair as it did on a fair, blonde friend who tested the very same colour. A multi-purpose, natural looking, suits-all product with real staying power.”

Smashbox O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Colour

Feedback “I was intrigued to try this blusher - it’s a tube of clear gel which glides on and claims to change into your natural blush colour when it comes into contact with the skin. The best bit about it is the texture - it really does feel like silk to the touch. It turns from clear to pink instantly, so quick in fact that you have to be pretty speedy to blend it how you want it before it dries to a super soft and fairly matte finish that doesn’t budge. I’m not sure it was my ‘natural’ blush that appeared - it was quite a bright and girly pink, but very pretty and perfect for spring. A cute idea, but one that needs a bit of precision and a lot of cleanser to remove once it’s on.”

Maybelline Dream Touch Blush

Price £6.49

Feedback “As a big fan of powder blushers I’d never really thought to try a creamy version, so was quite intrigued by this small glass pot of pink mousse from Maybelline. This blusher is ever so silky and glides on effortlessly. I only needed to use a small amount as it’s a bold colour (I was trying shade 6), but thanks to its silky texture I could blend it in easily so I didn’t look as clown-cheeked as I first imagined. I wouldn’t use it as an everyday blush since it has a shimmery finish, and if I do purchase it I’ll go a shade lighter as it was quite dark for my fair skin tone. Has it converted me from using a powder to a cream? Not for day time, but for a night out when I need a bit of sparkle I'd definitely give it a go."

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Coral Reef

Price £7.99

Feedback “In its dainty little pot, this cream blusher looks more like rave paint. The shade is definitely more ‘neon carrot’ than ‘coral reef’... I’ll admit I was scared. My pale Celtic skin isn’t normally so accommodating to orange, but in fact, I really liked it. Initially blinding, this cream blusher delivers a gorgeously warm wash of colour and gave my cheeks a peachy glow. It’s ultra natural to the point of being almost transparent, and it feels refreshingly light on the skin. Friends remarked that it actually looked much more subtle than my normal powder blusher (not hard... as everyone that knows me is aware I pile on the rouge). My only criticism is that it slides off fairly easily so I would recommend reapplying throughout the day (one of my favourite activities anyway) or setting with translucent loose powder after initial application to increase its staying power.”

Liz Earle Healthy Glow Cream Blush in Camellia

Price £16.50

Buy online

Feedback “In a chic compact complete with mirror, this cream blush looked soft and subtle; great for my very fair skin. The Camellia shade is the lightest of the range, with peachy undertones which once blended onto the apples of the cheeks almost disappears. I liked that I could build it up and smudge it around as much as I needed, though just a light layer was enough to give that lightly flushed and glowy complexion. Perfect for those wanting the natural look.”

YSL Creme de Blush

Price £29

Feedback “A gorgeously vibrant pink, at first glance I thought this was far too bright to be a blusher and almost wanted to wear it as a lipstick instead. However, the silky mousse-like formula blends easily into the skin for a smooth finish, and I found I could build up the colour for more intensity - ideal for a top up for when you’re going from office to cocktail bar. It worked well on bare skin for a more natural glow, as well as giving a soft flush on top of foundation. The packaging is gorgeous as always; a small square jar with a gold twist-off lid. I applied it in the morning at 8am, and at the end of my working day it hadn’t budged one bit. Perfect.”
