When it comes to your everyday makeup, you’ve probably got most of it sorted from knowing the best foundation for glowing skin whatever your skin type to the best cream blushers for a natural flush but when it comes to easy eye makeup looks that are quick and make your eyes look brighter, maybe you don’t know where to start? Us too. That’s why we asked makeup artist, Nathalie Eleni, who beautifies the faces of celebs such as Jodie Whittaker and Ana Taylor Joy, if she would put together three easy eye makeup looks that are quick and simple to do. And, boy oh boy did she deliver.

Eye-lifting eyeliner flick

The perfect eyeliner flick can help create the illusion of lift at the outer corner. However, they are notoriously tricky to master with liquid eyeliners, especially if you have hooded lids - which is ironically the eye shape that needs an eye-lifting liner flick most. Thankfully, Natalie has a simple tip which will make getting it right so much easier. “To create the perfect liner for your eye shape look straight ahead when you’re applying the flick in the position you want it to be, rather than looking down. Then connect it all together by tracing it along the lash line. Even professionals won’t get it right the first time so keep some eye makeup remover to hand to help sharpen up the outer part of your flick.” And don’t worry if you’re a lash extension addict we’ve found the best oil-free eye makeup removers that are lash extension safe. To finish off Nathalie adds just a hint of sparkly liner on top of the black flick which helps make eyes pop.

Brightening blue

Blue mascara and blue eyeshadow have always had a bit of a bad rep. Those of a certain age might naturally mentally segue to visions of Deidre from Coronation Street who was very much the 80s poster girl of the look. But those days are well and truly long gone and blue mascara and blue eyeliner are a great way to add instant zing to your eyes as they make the whites look even whiter. And great news, you do not need high-level makeup skills to nail this look. “Start by perfecting the area around your eye area with some concealer. I’ve then used a dual-ended eyeliner pencil that has an electric blue shade at one end which I’ve applied along my waterline. At the other end is a navy blue, which I’ve applied just to the outer edges of my lashes. I then applied turquoise blue mascara over my regular black mascara. By doing this you get the definition from the black but mega vibrancy from the blue.”

Rested rusty orange

Sometimes a slightly unexpected shade comes along that you don’t realise can give your face instant energy, even if you’ve only managed a few hours of sleep, and burnt orange is one of them. Great for not only this time of year but also a colour that suits every eye colour and skin tone. “I blended this burnt orange cream eye shadow over my eyelid. Because it’s a cream it’s really easy to apply and the metallic finish gives that lovely shimmering highlight to your eyelids and really adds extra vibrancy to your face. Then take a cream highlighter and blend it under the brow bone. I finish by pressing a peachy metallic powder just in the centre of the eye. This helps give the cream shadow more staying-power and also adds extra vibrancy to the orange for a soft flattering look.”
