Victoria Woodhall, GTG editorial director, is into 'salad' skincare

Monika Blunder Architect Eyes Mascara, £29.16

"I'm a long-term fan of this celebrity makeup artist brand – you’ll find Kissen Lush lip crayon and award-winning Blunder Cover concealer foundation in my makeup bag –  and now this new conditioning mascara has joined my ‘staples’ roster. You get a neat, lifted finish thanks to a short-bristled silicone brush that lets you get right down to the root. Your lashes stay soft, not crispy, so you can build and top up to your heart’s content. Get it all off with Monika’s brilliant Melt Down Cleansing Balm."

Sweed Glass Skin Foundation, £38

"MUA Gabriella Elio’s clean, vegan beauty brand is most famous for its prostaglandin-free eyelash growth serum, but there’s plenty more to love in this no-makeup makeup range, not least this new liquid foundation, in 15 shades, with medium coverage. Best applied with a brush for a light skin-like touch, it works on all ages, whether you have fine lines or acne, or just want a bit of blur. And the packaging is so covetable you’ll want it all. The Miracle Powder, £38 is a viral gem, a mineral blurring powder ‘filter’ that cheers my face up daily."

Byroe Kiwi Gel Cleanser, £39

New to the UK, Byroe is a cool New York female-founded clean beauty brand that I’m loving for its lightweight textures, fresh feel and high-performance plant actives – Tatcha and Tula fans will already be on to this! Everything comes in beautiful packaging and is ‘salad’ inspired. My favourite is the Tomato Firming Serum, £155 with peptides, that plumps up thirsty mature skin. I use the Kale Hydrating Gel Moisturizer, £85, a lovely green gel too. I’m suggesting the Kiwi Detox Gel Cleanser here as an intro to the brand as it suits everyone and you only need a small dot as it’s concentrated.

Upcircle Deodorant, £19.99 refills, £17.97 for 3

My family loves to test natural deodorants and Akt The Deodorant Balm has long held the crown among the (smellier) boys for dryness, elevated scent and plastic-free creds. Now Upcircle has come up with something equally good, performance-wise, and in a refillable aluminium container. It’s a stick rather than Akt’s finger-applied cream and while you get a little more in Akt (50g as opposed to 41g for the same price) and it comes in more than one scent, arguably you lose some on your fingers. With the non-sticky Upcircle stick, you only buy the aluminium packaging once and enjoy the fresh scent all day.

SJ Corfield-Smith, GTG beauty director, has sniffed out a hot new fragrance brand

Naturium The Glow Getter Body Oil, £26.50

"Following on from the smash hit success of The Glow Getter Body Wash - which is constantly selling out - comes this body oil (there’s also a body butter) of the same name. This is the body oil for people who find oils too oily. This is also for people who want to up their bodycare regime but need it to be quick and effective. And let me tell you, I’m not entirely sure how it sinks in so quickly and without leaving any residue but that’s exactly what it does. Magic perhaps? It leaves skin looking glowy, not greasy and feeling silky soft thanks to a blend of natural oils - olive, rosehip, jojoba and sea buckthorn being the big names. It also has a gorgeous clean and fresh scent that stays on the skin."

Who is Elijah Rebel Rose EDP, £80 for 50ml

"I predict this will be the new perfume brand everyone goes crazy for this autumn. Landing from Australia, the scents I have sniffed so far have been absolute knockouts. As I could only pick one, I went with this gorgeous, sexy, spicy and woody rose perfume. It’s a bit masculine but also feminine at the same time. I love the simple, chic packaging and you don’t need to take out a second mortgage to afford it. They also do handy 10ml bottles for £40 so you can dip in your toe first before committing to a larger bottle."

Doll Smash Stay Fierce Foundation Stick, £29.99

"Foundation sticks seem to have had a rebirth this year. No longer the heavy, cakey pansticks of old, the new iterations are lightweight, super blendable - and thanks to their compact packaging - a great option for using on the go or for travel. Doll Smash is a female-founded makeup brand that, up until now, has gone slightly under the radar but is very much worthy of your time and attention. The stick comes in 14 shades and delivers medium levels of coverage - buff it out for a lighter effect, build it up if you prefer more. It leaves skin looking dewy and juicy and is a delight to use."

Kosas Soul Gazer Intensifying Gel Eyeliner in Enigma, £20

"If you struggle to find an eyeliner that stays put then please let me introduce you to these new liners from Kosas. Available in ten gorgeous shades (my favourite are this deep navy blue and the burgundy shade, Depth) which are pigment-rich and do not budge.  I swatched a few shades on my hand first thing in the morning and the lines were still there last thing at night - I had to double cleanse my hand to get it off. There is a handy sharpener built in to the end so you can keep the nib in a precision point, as well as a smudger so you can blend it out for a softer smoky effect."

Malin and Goetz Tomato Room Spray, £48

"Following the sell-out success of their tomato candle, Malin and Goetz have introduced a new home spray of the same scent. This innovative spray neutralises unpleasant odours rather than just masking them, making it ideal for the kitchen and bathroom. Its unique fragrance evokes the freshness of a greenhouse and while I wouldn’t use it in my bedroom, it’s perfect for the kitchen after cooking - one of my housemates even wondered why his dinner hadn't left any lingering smell in our shared kitchen. If a 25-year-old guy with minimal beauty knowledge notices a difference, it passes the test!"

RMS Beauty Redimension Hydra Bronzer, £33

"Looking for something to replicate a summer glow? Me too which is why this gel-powder bronzer caught my eye, especially as I was curious about what the texture. It starts out creamy  and feels moisturising (thanks to jojoba and buriti oil) before setting into a powdery finish. It creates a wash of natural bronze that isn't muddy and the subtle shimmer is perfect for everyday. Plus, the refillable packaging saves you £6 when you purchase a refill pan for your compact."

Erborian Skin Hero Eye, £35

"With darker mornings making it tough to get ready, anything that instantly perks up my eyes is a winner. Step in this hybrid eye cream and primer. The hydrating formula contains white ginseng complex and caffeine to help smooth and reduce dark circles and de-puff the under-eye area. It also has an instant brightening pigment which preps the skin for any makeup you apply over (although I have found it has reduced the amount of concealer I’ve been slapping on)."

Trinny London Just Joyous Lipstick, £26

"Trinny London has opened its first flagship store on King’s Road in London, and to celebrate they've introduced a new lipstick to the range. Packed with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, moringa and maracuja oils it has a glossy (but not sticky) finish for a touch of glam, and with 11 shades there’s an option for everyone. The sleek packaging fits the Trinny aesthetic and the slim tube makes it perfect to toss in your bag for a night out - I’m talking to you micro bag lovers!"

Spa Ceylon White Rice - Overnight Hydrating Treatment, £44

"This luxury brand is inspired by the 5000-year-old Indian holistic medicine system of Ayurveda: a wellness concept hinging on the balance between mind, body, spirit and environment. This intensive treatment is a cocktail of Ayurvedic wonder herbs: antioxidant-rich rice gram oil, wheatgerm for reducing inflammation and sweet almond for nourishing and firming the skin. It gives a bang for your buck, with a massive 200g pot and creamy-to-watery jelly consistency that goes far. Apply a thick layer to your face and neck for a two-hour mini facial. Or swap out your usual night cream for an ultra-hydrating overnight boost and drift off to the heady aroma of Ceylon spices."

Ilia Lightshift Cream Highlighter, £41

"I’ve never had so many compliments on Zoom than when testing out this new highlighter. It’s glowy skin in a pot: with a weightless, silky cream-to-powder texture that blends easily - and blurs the skin. The effect is a natural-looking yet luminous boost, when applied to the tops of your cheekbones, tip of nose and chin, and brow bone. A non-comedogenic formula uses plant-based squalene to moisturize without blocking pores. And a dose of antioxidants in the green tea and microalgae help to protect against pollution damage. It comes in three shades: my favourite being Daze, which doubles up as a bronzer - and is perfect for pretending it’s still summer."

Revitalash Defining Liner Eyeliner in Dark Brown, £25

"You might know Revitalash for their cult lash growth serum - which has celebrity fans from Kim Kardashian to Meghan Markle - but did you know they also do a range of skin and hair nourishing mascaras, brow tamers and eyeliners? The newest offering is this dark brown shade of eyeliner, that’s been cleverly formulated to suit all eye types (I can vouch for this, as I don’t usually suit a brown). It contains vitamin E for natural conditioning, and the crayon has a thick consistency that is miraculously smudge-proof and long-lasting. Plus, since the brand was originally founded by Dr Michael Brinkenhoff to help his wife Gayle, who lost her lashes after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, they donate proceeds from every purchase to cancer research (£4 million since 2018). I’m usually a black liquid wing junkie, but might just be converted."

The Lush Version Ginger Shampoo, £20

"One of the Lush co-founders, Mark Constantine OBE, started out developing formulas for The Body Shop - and has now re-vamped a range of the '90s brand’s much-loved originals with a Lush twist. So, obviously, there’s a nostalgic Brazilliant Body Butter, £22, but my favourite is this antidandruff shampoo: with clarifying ginger root and honey for softening the scalp, it has a luminous orange jelly consistency that looks and smells edible. There’s soya kefir yoghurt for its probiotic properties, cleansing salicylic acid and unexpected shards of exfoliating sea salt (which wash out surprisingly easily). After massaging in, your scalp feels refreshed and tingly. It’s not an everyday shampoo - and doesn’t have a matching conditioner, but goes well with their Banana Conditioner, £16. Available online now, or in UK stores from November."

Lottie London x Harley Quinn Pouts & Pigtails Eyeshadow Palette, £8.95

"Love a high-pigment, easy-to-apply eyeshadow? How about nine of them for less than £9? I’ve long trusted Lottie London for its array of simple-to-use makeup essentials and this collaboration with Gotham City’s favourite villain more than delivers. While I sense this palette will be perfect for recreating the character’s iconic look come Halloween, the array of pretty pinks and sparkles are actually super wearable day-to-day too."

Dr Idriss The Depuffer Roll-On Serum, £39

"As a cosmetic science journalist, it always makes me sit up straight when a board-certified dermatologist launches skincare… and that’s before you mention that Dr Shereene Idriss, aka the #PillowtalkDerm, has a social following of over three million. Freshly arrived from the US, Dr Idriss’ eye depuffer has quickly become my go-to when travelling long-haul. Don’t be put off by the quick-to-disappear brown shade. That’s because it contains arnica (plus Centella Asiatica and niacinamide)  – to help you bid tired eyes goodbye in a flash."

shop

UKhair Shampoo, £15

"From the company behind the eyelash growth serum with over 50,000 positive reviews (and a whole lot of social media hype), comes UKhair - a range of health-boosting essentials for the strands on your head. I’m a particular fan of the vegan-friendly shampoo, which provides a deep clean while leaving my hair feeling glossy and hydrated from root-to-tip. As a bonus, it smells great too, so it’s a real wake-up boost during my morning shower."

Velour Self-Stick Lash Clusters, £17

"I am the very definition of a false lash beginner. But, with an array of formal events on the horizon I took the plunge. I’m so glad I did. Instead of one long, fiddly strip of falsies, these new clever ‘clusters’ means you can more easily shape them around your eyes – adding subtle definition and volume when placed under your lashes. Plus, they are pre-glued so you don’t risk sticking your fingers together!"
