The self-confessed beauty obsessive shared her haul of skin and hair products she packed for a five month stay in the UK and we're guessing she's not going to run out of serum any time soon
Is there anything better than when a celebrity shares the products they really keep in their bathroom, especially when it’s not part of some mega bucks beauty deal they’ve signed? We don’t think so. That’s why the GTG team were oogling over snaps that singer/actor Lily Allen, now based in New York, shared on her Instagram stories, showcasing the products she has packed for her 5 month stay in the UK while she stars in West End play, The Pillowman.
Lily took some shelfies of her impressive skincare and haircare must-haves and there are some absolute winners in there. And the great news is that you don’t need an a-lister’s bank balance to buy all of them. So if you love delving into celebrity makeup bags - like when we took a look at Maya Jama’s makeup and skincare must-haves or Elle Macpherson's glowy skin essentials - then read on to find out just how Lily Allen keeps her skin looking so flawless and her hair so exceptionally shiny.
Lily Allen’s skincare secrets
When you’re under the stage spotlights you’re going to want your skin to look as flawless as possible so no wonder Lily has quite the skincare arsenal. For cleansing she uses Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm, £59 - a mud based cleanser that draws out impurities as it cleanses the skin.
We’re guessing that she then uses the Bioeffect Volcanic Exfoliator, £30 which helps keep skin looking super smooth.
Lily obviously knows the benefit of having the best serum possible to hand as she has quite a few impressive ones which will definitely last her five month London stint. At the pricier end is Bioeffect EGF Serum, £129, Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum, £185 and Dr Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tonic Hyaluronic Serum, £235 all of which are brilliant hydrating serums. We question whether Lily needs the Dr Barbara Sturm one as it’s specifically designed for darker skin tones. In the more affordable realms is the Medik8 Hydr8 B5, £45 which is the skincare equivalent of drenching your skin in water - a great option for any super dry and dehydrated skin types.
Lily Allen’s essential toiletries
It can get hot and sweaty on stage and it seems the deodorant that Lily relies on is beauty bargain, Vichy 48Hr Anti-Perspirant, £9.95 - it's not a natural deodorant but it alcohol and paragon free and ideal for sensitive skins.
And to keep her teeth looking perfectly white, she has brought her Philips Sonicare, £99 with her.
Lily Allen’s haircare heroes
Now that Lily has transformed her naturally dark hair to icy blonde, it’s no wonder that she needs a fairly substantial haircare system to maintain the colour and keep her hair in good condition.
And it’s perhaps unsurprising that she opts for the salon-sized bottle of Redken Extreme Bleach Recovery Shampoo, £50.99 to keep her colour locked in as well as preventing brassy tones. We’re then assuming she follows that with either the Redken Extreme Bleach Recovery Cica Cream, £26.28 that acts as a leave-in deep conditioner or the iconic Kérastase Nutritive Masque, £40 that can either be used as a hair treatment or overly processed hair can use it as a regular conditioner. She also has a bottle of K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask, £25 a brilliant bond repair hair treatment for damaged hair.
And hydration seems to be the key factor in Lily’s hair regime as she has also brought with her It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product, £18.50 and It’s a 10 Miracle Deep Conditioner Plus Keratin, £23 both designed to deliver moisture, moisture and even more moisture to coloured and parched hair.
Styling wise, Lily is wearing her hair very slick and sleek in a ultra short bob and her styling products of choice are the Color Wow Dream Coat, £21.60 , which has the phenomenal ability to waterproof hair preventing it from frizzing and puffing up. Kiehl’s Creme with Silk Groom, £34 potentially goes on next as it’s used on damp hair to smooth and add a bit more hydration. And to finish it must be a spritz of a beauty classic to keep her style in place, L’Oréal Paris Elnett, £7.50.
