Aarti shows how to create the perfect glamorous but ultra-wearable look with a shimmering and sparkly, but not overly glittery smoky eye, paired with fresh and dewy skin, subtly contoured cheeks and a gorgeous pink-red lip that almost looks like a liquid lipstick but is created with a super budget-friendly product (scroll down to find out what).

If you’re not familiar with Aarti, she is a seasoned makeup artist, with over 15 years of experience and not only demonstrates her creativity on shoots for all the top magazines and publications but also for private high-profile clients and creating glamorous bridal makeup. She has also just been appointed by the British Beauty Council to be a member of their Diversity and Inclusivity committee.

Aarti’s signature look is one of soft glam but that is easy to achieve and she constantly aims to simplify beauty regimes so that everyone can look and feel their best. And that is very much true of this video. Aarti has created this exclusive 90-second tutorial for us and demonstrates how a glamorous, sparkly and smoky eye look can be simple and easy to create. It’s ideal for the festive season and we can’t wait to try it ourselves. Enjoy!

Perfect prep

Aarti starts with a quick session with the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Face Mask, £299 and then moves on to skincare. She applies a layer of the iconic Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex Serum, £58.50, which doesn’t just have to be used at night! It’s filled with lots of hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and peptides to give skin an extra protective boost. And then finished with the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, £52, which adds another level of hydration but also multitasks as a makeup primer.

Base layers

Aarti begins building up the glow with Valentino Beauty Ambra V-Lighter Face Base and Top Coat Primer in 01 Rosa, £39, a liquid highlighter and primer which she applies all over. She then erases dark circles and blemishes with Huda Beauty Faux Filter Colour Corrector in Peach, £26 that she taps into the skin with her ring finger. Aarti uses the peach shade but there are five to choose from depending on your skin tone and whether you need to reduce redness, sallowness or blueness in the skin. She finishes under the eyes by blending in Lancôme Teint Idôle Ultra Wear Care and Glow Concealer, £22.40, with a sponge which has added skincare benefits as well as a dewy luminous finish. Aarti’s foundation of choice for this look is MAC Studio Radiance Serum Powered Foundation, £39 which has medium coverage, a dewy finish and comes in a staggering 56 shades.

Sparkly smoky eyes

Aarti quickly and easily applies the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Mini Cream Shadow Stick Shade Golden Bronze, £18 all over the eyelid and then patting on top Bobbi Brown Moonstone x Jenny Packham Luxe Eyeshadow, £32  to make the eyes “twinkle like stars”. Aarti then goes in with the Lisa Eldridge Beauty Seamless Glide Eye Pencil in Black Treacle, £24 to add definition to the eyes. She applies it as a ‘regular’ eyeliner pencil in the water line but it’s so creamy that she then lightly sweeps a brush onto the nib and uses that to line the top lash line and add a little bit of smokiness. She finishes with a few coats of one of our favourite budget mascaras Max Factor 2000 Calorie Volume Mascara, £9.99.

Cheeky details

Next is contouring, Aarti uses the Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Colour Matte, £30  just under the cheekbones and uses the brush at the end of the applicator to buff it in and add some definition. Then she applies Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand, £30, which she describes as “catching the warm light of Diwali”. She finishes with a sweep of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Leopard, £86, which she sweeps over the top to help set the makeup.

Festive pout

There are two products Aarti uses to create the gorgeous warm red-pink shade on her lips. First up is the Laura Mercier High Vibe Lip Colour Lipstick Shade Bliss, £27.50,  which creates a creamy finish and then she dabs on top, Revlon Super Lustrous The Gloss, £5.99 for extra gloss and dewiness. She finishes with a final spritz of a GTG favourite face mist, Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, £48.
