Armani Beauty Neo Nude Fusion Powder, £48

Skintones: All- there are 12 shades, ranging from so fair it’s a transparent finishing powder to a very deep brown.

Skin types: Dry to combination

The faux glow verdict: Technically designed as a setting powder rather than a sunkissed bronzer, this clever, radiant powder mimics a glow if you opt for a colour a few shades darker than your natural skintone, and as powder products go, it’s incredibly luminous, melting into skin with no chalkiness. It’s one of the most natural looking bronzers I’ve tried in while, which is just as well given the extortionate price point, but it’ll last well, plus the enclosed brush in the compact is soft, silky and does a very decent job at even application- my normal practice is to ditch dinky makeup palette brushes in favour of full sized models, but this is an exception to that rule.

Kiko Gold Waves Bronzer, £22.90

Skin tones: Fair to light brown.

Skin types: All.

The faux glow verdict: This impressive powder bronzer from Kiko has a soft, lightweight silky texture and subtle shades that work perfectly for fairer skin. Choose between two sunny shades with slight highlighting effects or go for Sienna for a matte finish - either way, the jojoba oil-enriched powder leaves skin looking radiant and very delicately sunkissed.

Trinny London Golden Glow Bronzer, £25

Skin tones: All. (Jensta shade: very fair to medium. Soala shade: Medium to dark)

Skin types: Dry to combination.

The faux glow verdict: This little bronzer is sheer, almost gel-like and manages to retain a glow that is matte and looks like real skin. You apply it with fingertips (make sure they are really clean if you are going to keep dipping for the next six months, which is how long they say it’ll last) then blend and layer up for a finish that makes skin look natural and healthy. It can even be used all over the face as a tint if you’re feeling pasty or want to go foundation-free. Make sure to set with powder if you want it to last the day. Cream bronzers aren’t that common but if you have older skin and find that powder bronzers deaden your face and accentuate wrinkles (yes!) - or if you simply love a more natural, invisible finish, this is perfect.

TooFaced Chocolate Soleil Bronzers, £21.25

Skin tones: Fair to dark.

Skin types: Oily to combination.

The faux glow verdict: This is the perfect pick for when you need your bronzer to last all day. The natural matte finish is long-wearing, without looking too flat on the skin. There are 3 shades, ranging from 'milk chocolate' to 'dark chocolate' but beware, the colour is super pigmented, so best used with a light hand if you're fair skinned, though it can be built up for a deeper looking bronze.
