Introduced to meditation at the age of 11 by his mother, Andy’s real vocation kicked in at the age of 22, when he travelled the world and was finally ordained as a monk at a Tibetan monastery in the Himalayas. Really.
After ten years Andy returned to the UK with the aim to demystify meditation and make it accessible to all. From here Headspace was born; a project that utilises the wonders of science and technology to bring easy meditation techniques into everyday lives. Andy and the Headspace team upload new videos and content every day to guide you through a meditation session - just log on online or through a Headspace-on-the-go app (new one launching in June!).
With over 600,000 users, Andy has taken an age-old practice into a modern domain in a visionary way, proving that meditation and mindfulness have far-reaching benefits for everyone. From cabinet ministers to Olympic athletes, Andy’s scientifically proven techniques promote health and happiness, providing people with the tools to deal with life’s ups and downs. Headspace is a gym for the mind and a step towards prioritising the health of our minds as well as the health of our bodies.
Andy sets a great example himself, and his recent move to Los Angeles allows him to get up even earlier to make time for a spot of surfing as well as meditation. He’s got this life thing figured out; why not log on and find out for yourself?
