While studying for her degree in medicine in Bristol, Dr Anita Sturnham realised that she enjoyed training with General Practitioners. She enjoyed forming relationships with patients and took great pride knowing that she would be their first port of call when it came to maintaining their health, treating conditions and preventing future issues.
After qualifying, Anita began her surgical training, where she learnt a great deal about skin, an area that later became a specialism. This invaluable knowledge makes her stand out among other GPs as she has a deep understanding of a wide range of subjects. She employs her passion for her work and empathetic nature to help patients deal with and overcome any issues that they may have.
After training and working as a doctor for ten years, Anita made the decision to move to London where she now works as a GP, splitting her time between NHS duties and private practice. She is also a Dove DermaSeries expert and a resident doctor on The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
She has also provided advice to the nation through TV appearing on Embarrassing Bodies ‘Live from the Clinic’ for Channel 4. She also participated in Channel 5’s Most Shocking Celebrity Moments 2011 and was a specialist on BBC1’s Make Me Better.
Despite all of this, she marks qualifying to become a doctor as her biggest achievement to date. At the age of 6, Anita would carry a medical kit around and practice on her family, so gaining the right to practice professionally was a treasured moment. Additionally, she takes a great deal of pleasure in knowing that her work helps to imorive and change peoples' lives, making every day an achievement in its own right.
When Anita isn't working (yes, she still manages to have some hours left in the day), she can be seen travelling, playing tennis or hunting down new challenges. Her latest endeavour is learning Spanish, and we're sure she'll have that down in no time too.
