Suave, accomplished and discreet, Fred has that certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ which has set him apart from his peers from the very beginning of his hairdressing career in Lyon.

He excelled in training, completing his ‘cap’ diploma in just one year rather than the customary three, and moved to Paris to study at the prestigious Jean Louis Deforges Academy. M. Deforges spotted Fred’s talent and it wasn’t long before he started teaching students himself.

Itching to progress he aimed to move to New York via London. Let’s just say that, luckily for us, the transatlantic hop never happened! Fred’s reputation as an expert stylist became well known, and he worked at some of London’s top salons before teaming up with friend and fellow hairdresser Shai Greenberg to co-found his own salon, Gielly Green. With some of the most attentive, open-minded and technically distinguished stylists in the capital, it’s a hotspot on the London hairstyling scene (and the massage chairs are pretty out of this world too).

As if a buzzing, esteemed salon weren’t enough, Fred and Shai have also since launched their own product line. Fred’s interest in microbiology and the extensive hair care experience of both stylists has contributed to the brand’s success as a natural yet effective range. Focused on the powers of natural botanicals and with no nasties or damaging chemicals, Gielly Green products soothe the scalp and look after hair in the long term. With perfumes sourced from Grasse, Provence-born Fred has put his heart and soul into developing the line, and is still tinkering with it to this day. Ever the perfectionist…
