We may not have been to school in many, many years, but we still get that ‘back-to-school’ new start feeling every September, promising that we’ll be more organised and more productive.
Personal trainer Caroline Idiens aka Caroline's Circuits, who specialises in strength training, is with us on the ‘new season new me' vibe. “September is the new January,” she says. “The days are longer and lighter than after Christmas (and with the kids back at school after a long summer break) it feels like the start of new beginnings and a great time to get back into our exercise routines.”
If one of your September resolutions is to get back into your fitness stride, Caroline is on hand with her 30 minute, full-body workout. “It's easy to fit into your day – post-school drop off or before or after work. No equipment is needed and it caters to all levels,” she says.
What's in the workout?
It’s a circuit of ten exercises that work out the whole body, alternating between cardio and strength moves. Caroline recommends doing two or three sets of the moves per session, time permitting.
If you’re a beginner, Caroline recommends doing each move for 30 seconds, followed by a 30-second rest. For intermediates, she suggests 40 seconds on followed by a 20-second rest, and for advanced exercisers, 50 seconds on followed by ten seconds of rest.
