Salon Spy: Urban Retreat at Harrods
- March 21st 2014
After the long, wet and weary winter my skin was feeling dull, dehydrated and in serious need of a springtime pick-me-up. So, with more excitement than a child on Christmas morning, I made my way to Urban Retreat on the fifth floor of Harrods hoping that someone or something would be able to inject a little bit of life back into my sad-looking skin.
Chic, modern and stylish, the Urban Retreat spa is everything you’d want from a lavish afternoon of beauty pampering. With thoughtful and attentive service, guests are warmly welcomed at reception and are encouraged to take some time to relax either in the East Dulwich Deli, or the vast retail emporium before beginning their facial.
The facial is designed to remove the top layers of the epidermis and to encourage fresher layers of skin to soak up the minerals and nutrients of the products, ultimately resulting in a purer, brighter finish. Crafted by Creative Director Reena Hammer, the products are all-natural, kind to skin and contain essence of ylang ylang, rose geranium and lavender which gives the whole spa a beautifully fresh and floral scent.
Before the facial begins you receive a detailed analysis, so your therapist can fully understand the needs of your skin. This helps create the unique and bespoke feeling of the facial and also leaves you with a lot more knowledge about your own complexion!
The treatment itself is an absolute dream. From start to finish you’ll receive a gentle foot exfoliation, a facial steam, a pre-cleanse, a double-cleanse, a facial massage, a deep cleanse (using the signature Foreo machine that uses pulsations to refine and detox) and finally you’ll finish with a facial massage using the Urban Retreat Elixir and moisturiser. If nirvana was a beauty treatment, this would be it.
Utterly relaxing and totally indulgent, this facial not only leaves you feeling rested and refreshed but your skin feels wonderfully revitalised, cleansed and gloriously glowing. For anyone who’s in need of a facial fix-up or even just a pre-party glow, Urban Retreat should be at the top of your list. In fact, now that I’ve seen my skin this way I think this facial just might have to become part of my new skincare routine.
