Ayesha Muttucumaru swaps summer-sizzled hair for lustrous new locks at Paul Edmonds and realises what she's been missing...

If you’re looking for a salon that combines some serious style savvy with a relaxing atmosphere and luxurious surroundings too, then Paul Edmonds in London will soon become your hair haunt of choice. It definitely has become mine.

My hair was in need of some winter R&R (read: a refresh and revamp) following a summer littered with heating tools and tight updos. With my battle against the summer frizz leaving it dry, over-styled and overworked, Art Director Vanessa Essack was faced with the task of bringing my parched locks back to life and injecting my go-to style with a much needed update.

It had reached that stage where my hair just looked, well, long, too long in fact and didn’t really do anything to incite my excitement, let alone anyone else’s. Vanessa recommended a deeply nourishing treatment, some long layers and a sweeping fringe plus a few subtle touches to give my hair the pick-me-up it was in need of. She made some very helpful and thoughtful suggestions tailored to my face shape and features and made sure that our consultation was more like a discussion, by keeping me involved and putting me at ease before she started to make carefully considered chops to my lacklustre locks.

With a stylish and chic décor mixed with a few modern touches (TV screens and WiFI - woohoo!), a well equipped nail bar plus a team that were ever-pleasant and ever-smiling, the experience was everything that a trip to the hairdressers should be – professional and highly pleasurable topped with a super healthy head of hair that really brought to light how much I had neglected it before. Now that I’ve seen what my hair looks like at its best, I’m addicted and hope to never go back to the way that it once was. With a little help from the scissors of the super-skilled Vanessa, of course…
