Did you SEE Rihanna's Super Bowl 2023 performance? What a woman. And what a make up look. We've got the lowdown on every single one of the 14 Fenty products she wore - and 14 cheaper dupes, so you can recreate the look for a third of the price. Boom!
In case you haven’t heard (where have you been?), Rihanna performed at Super Bowl 2023 on Sunday. While we couldn’t tell you the two teams that were playing, we can tell you is that, resplendent in a red Loewe jumpsuit and Alaïa coat, she used her halftime show to not only announce her second pregnancy but also remind us what a savvy businesswoman she is - with a quick but very considered powdering of her nose using, of course, Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder, £19.20. Google searches for Fenty Beauty Invisimatte duly rocketed by 1,750 per cent in the following 24 hours. However, if you're on the lookout for a slightly cheaper option then try XX Revolution Quick Fixx Setting Powder in Translucent, £10.
Rihanna Super Bowl 2023: skin prep products
Priscilla Ono, Rihanna's make up artist and Global Makeup Artist for Fenty Beauty, prepped Rihanna’s skin with Fenty Beauty Pre-Show Glow Instant Retexturizing 10% AHA Treatment, £22.40. This has a jelly-like consistency and contains AHAs to gently, but effectively, exfoliate the skin to leave the skin feeling and looking smoother. She then followed with Fenty Beauty Flash Nap Priming Eye Gel-Cream, £23.20. Rihanna admits that she never gets enough sleep (show us a new mother who does!) so this is a product she uses all the time, not just for Super Bowl 2023. It has an instant cooling effect on the skin and ingredients to depuff and it can be applied under and all around the eye area.

More watery in consistency, which you may prefer anyway, and a third of the price is Pixi Glow Tonic, £10, which is considered an icon in the exfoliating toner arena. Plus this comes in a 100ml bottle, whereas the Fenty is only 30ml so you really are getting a lot more for your money here. For the eyes try Bondi Sands Eye Spy Vitamin C Eye Cream, £6.66. It doesn’t have the cooling element, but it has instant brightening pigments so as soon as you pat it in your skin will look more revived and awake.
Rihanna Super Bowl 2023: base products
When the entire world is watching, you need a flawless base, something for which Ono is renowned. She used 5 products in total: Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 320, £24 teamed with Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer in shade 300, £16.80. Match Stix Contour Skinstick in Mocha, £23 was used for contouring and Sunstalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Bajan Gyal, £21.60 was buffed in for extra glow. And it was all set into place with Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder in Banana, £26.

If it’s a matte, full coverage foundation you’re after à la Riri, try Maybelline Super Stay 30H Foundation, £10.99, not only because it contains hyaluronic acid so feels really light and hydrating on the skin, but because it has amazing staying power and comes in 30 shades. For concealer, the Revolution Conceal & Hydrate, £3.50 is really impressive. You’ll be hard-pushed to find a better contour stick than Collection Gorgeous Glow, £4.99 for under a fiver. And when it comes to bronzer, why not use the same one that Beyonce’s makeup artist, Sir John uses, L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24h Fresh Wear Matte Bronzer, £12.99. If setting everything in place is a non-negotiable for you then HNB Cosmetics Soft Focus Loose Powder (that also comes in a shade called banana), £13.50 is a great alternative.
Rihanna Super Bowl 2023: eye make up
Ono had a fairly streamlined kit for Rihanna’s eye makeup. She used the Bomb Posse Mega Mix + Match Eyeshadow Palette, was £42 now £29. Lined with Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in Cuz I’m Black, £19 and defined her brows with Brow MVP Ultra-Fine Brow Pencil in Medium Brown, £20.

When it comes to brilliant budget eyeshadow palette that contain similar shades to the Fenty one, then NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals, £12.80 is very impressive. Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner, £5.99 is one of our most recommended products and the Maybelline Express Brow Ultra Slim Eyebrow Pencil, £8.99 is almost identical to the Fenty Beauty one.
Rihanna Super Bowl 2023: lips and nails
Co-ordinating nails and lips to her outfit meant seeking out the perfect shades of red. On her lips Ono applied Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in The MVP, £24, which is the most universally flattering shade of red out there. Fact. On her nails, her nail artist Kimmie Kyees used CND Devil Red, £11.95: “It’s the perfect true red that complements Rihanna’s skin tone,” she says.

While there are far cheaper liquid lipstick brands you can try, if there’s one thing that Kylie Jenner does brilliantly (and a lot of her products are worth your attention) it’s a liquid lipstick that feels comfortable to wear. Which cannot be said of all of them. Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mary Jo K, £12.80, has slightly more of a blue undertone to it but is another red shade that works for all. And you can’t go wrong with Essie Nail Polish in Not Red-y For Bed, £6.39.
Calculator at the ready, we worked out that Rihanna's Super Bowl 2023 make up look will set you back £293.15. But if you go for the dupes, the cost is £119.60, which is around a third of the price.
