September 24th 2018 / 0 comment
Our pick of the fresh ear candy to accompany you on the commute and while pottering at weekends, whether you’re after beauty recommendations, life advice or a body confidence boost. Read on and tune in.
If, like me, you devour podcasts while going about your daily business, discovering a new one that pushes your aural buttons is a gift. If you’re yet to catch the podcast bug, the sheer volume of voices out there can trigger podcast paralysis, so we’re here to suggest just three newbies to add to your download list. There’s something for beauty lovers, to answer your burning relationship questions or just for a laugh as you hang out your pants. Listen up.
Beauty Full Lives with Madeleine Spencer
Beauty journalist and makeup artist Madeleine Spencer launched her podcast at the beginning of this month, with debut guests announced as Kylie Minogue, Holly Willoughby, Caroline Hirons and Dolly Alderton, among a roster of incredible women. Spencer is starting with a bang and her chats go deep- she explores the memories and emotions linked to our beauty rituals, why we’re so attached to the beauty products we use and why the impact of a much-loved perfume or lipstick goes far beyond surface level. If you’d like to pick up product recommendations while learning about the lives of inspirational women in the process, get onboard.
Wobble with Jules Von Hep and Sarah Powell
Following on from the success of the Jules and Sarah podcast, celebrity tan artist, founder of Isle of Paradise and all round funnyman Jules joins forces with radio and TV presenter Sarah to spearhead no holds barred conversations with a mental health focus. Body confidence, anxiety and discussions around happiness, and the fact that it’s okay not to be okay, are key themes and the podcast is so called as it aims to bring into the open all manner of things that can make us ‘wobble’, from the very literal exposure of being naked (Jules knows a thing or two about this one) to experiencing illness and online bullying. Jules and Sarah are as witty and wise as ever, and the podcast kicked off in March, so you’ve got a good bank of episodes to binge on.
On The Line with Estée Lalonde
Vlogger Estée Lalonde is a veteran podcaster too – millions of listeners tuned into her The Heart Of It episodes, and while her new venture will feature the kind of real talk you may have come to expect on topics of fashion, beauty and health, there’s a new ‘advice’ focus. The podcast will address listener questions left on the ‘On The Line’ voicemail, with Lalonde and experts exploring everything from relationship to women’s health and sexuality dilemmas in detail. Lalonde promises that “nothing is off limits”, and the podcast aims for a fun, confessional and supportive sleepover feel. A podcast to listen to in your PJs after a long day.
