As a Which? survey reveals you don’t always get more protection for your pound, we bring you the top five sunscreens you CAN trust

Alarmingly, a Which? survey published today has revealed that, when subjected to testing, three popular sun cream brands did not provide the SPF protection stated on the bottle.

Products by Malibu, Piz Buin and Hawaiian Tropic were all given a ‘don’t buy’ rating, for failing to live up to claims that they offered an acceptable level of protection from harmful UV rays.

Thankfully, we Glossies have our tried and trusted sunscreen brands we turn to when the going gets tough (or rather, hot). Here are five of the best…

Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Body Cream, £19.50

Dermatologist tested, this sunscreen provides great protection for dry skin and is oil-free for a gorgeous matte finish.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ Spray, £12.67

Great for sensitive areas that usually get over-exposed such as the eyes, ears and lips, this sunscreen won’t clog pores and will leave your skin feeling fresh yet protected.

Ultrasun Family Protection SPF 30, £19

With no perfume, emulsifiers or preservatives, this sunscreen is perfect for even the most sensitive of skin. It’s even water resistant.

Nivea Kids Moisturizing Sun Spray SPF 50+, £6.30

Specially formulated for children’s young skin, this sunscreen provides very high protection for your child while giving you the peace of mind that your little one is safe in the sun.

Riemann P20 Spray SPF 30, £19.99

Clear and quick drying, P20 sunscreen spray gives you up to 10 hours of reliable protection from just one application. It’s also water-resistant, which makes it great for men if they fancy a day out sailing on the high seas.
