1. The Snow White Bob

The trend: March sees the release of Disney’s live-action version of Snow White, and one element from the film has already taken the spotlight: Snow White’s famous curvy black bob. Selena Gomez has already been spotted on the red carpet sporting the style.

How to achieve it: You need to be already rocking a bob or prepared to cut one in, and then it’s all about creating some shape. “To create the bend of the bob, prep is essential. Apply a hair primer to prevent frizz before blow drying the hair as you normally would with a round brush,” says leading session stylist Paul Percival. Then, it’s time to get the rollers out. “Take medium to large-sized Velcro rollers and roll them in the direction you want the bend. Use your hair dryer to warm up the rollers and then leave to set.” If your hair is particularly frizz-prone, Percival recommends using a diffuser attachment as it spreads heat more evenly over a large area. “Once the hair is dry, unwrap the rollers and leave the hair to cool completely. This is essential to creating that bend at the bottom of the bob.” Then there’s one final and simple Snow White finishing touch. “Tuck one piece behind the hair to maximise the bend and shape.”

2. Lived-in Blonde

The trend: Great news for those who fork out £££ to regularly blondify their hair in a salon – this year dark roots are in, thanks to a ’90s grunge revival (it’s one of 2025 key makeup trends too). Think a not-so-perfect blonde look with lived-in roots coming through, Sabrina Carpenter style.

How to achieve it: “This look involves cool, carefree blonde hair that’s low maintenance,” says Siobhan Haug, co-founder of Fitzrovia salon Haug London Haus and former winner of British Colour Technician of the Year. Instead of having colour meticulously taken to the root, ask your colourist for “blended foilayage,” says Haug. For those who don’t speak fluent hairdresser, this is balayage applied in foils – a halfway house between highlights and balayage. It creates a more natural effect with with where the colour is placed and means fewer appointments to have roots touched up, saving you time and money. Result.

3. Mermaid Hair

The trend: Be prepared to be dazzled by a plethora of long, curly looks this year but this isn’t about tonging your hair so it’s frazzled and crisp, this is all about embracing your natural hair movement and encouraging your best curl.

How to achieve it: If you’re already blessed with curls like Maya Jama, then you’re halfway to nailing this trend. When it comes to suddenly having Rapunzel-like length locks, extensions are the quickest and best way to add length and volume. However, there has always been one fundamental flaw with long-length extensions for curly or textured hair; most hair extensions are naturally poker straight. This means having to straighten the natural texture so that everything blends seamlessly. No more.

Curly and textured hair extensions are on the rise which means not only can curly girls join the extension gang but they don’t have to sacrifice their natural texture to do so. “Everyone wants healthier, thicker and glossier hair and textured hair extensions complement people’s natural hair texture,” says extensions specialist Inanch Emir – who is not only the person behind Maya Jama’s curly extensions but also a whizz at invisible extensions that she offers at her London salon, Inanch.

Emir’s advice for getting the perfect textured extensions for you is to book an in-depth consultation: “You need to find out what application method is going to be used, the hair type and origin – ask to see it so you can check the texture and how close it is to yours – and how you should maintain the extensions afterwards.”

4. Pastel Perfection

The trend: Similar to dopamine washing (another of the key 2025 makeup trends), pastel shades are having a serious moment this year.

How to achieve it: “Pastels are remarkably versatile and work on all hair styles, lengths and textures,” says Jo O’Neill, head of technical education for Toni & Guy. “You can either have them worked through your hair like highlights or go for a pastel wash all over,” adds O’Neill. However, there is a slight caveat to this look. You need a light colour base or be prepared to add bleach to your hair and then have the pastel colour applied over the top as sadly, pastels do not show up on darker hair colours.

5. Pixie Wolf Cut

The trend: The boldest of the hair trends for 2025 is this cut, which fuses the structure of a bob, the choppiness of a pixie cut and the layers of a shag. It looks slightly rebellious and undone – actor Florence Pugh sure wears it well.

How to achieve it: Calling naturally wavy, a little bit kinky or slightly curly hair types, this is the look for you. “This style is all about movement and texture, so if you have that naturally, it enhances the effortless, lived-in feel,” says award-winning hair stylist Sam Burnett who owns fabulous London salon Hare & Bone.

“Ask your hairdresser for short, piecey layers around the face with plenty of internal texture to create movement. The back should be slightly longer to keep it wearable, but the layers should be cut in a way that avoids it looking too heavy. The secret is in the balance—too much length and it loses its edge, too short and it becomes a full pixie.”

Because this is a style that needs texture, styling products are a must-do. Burnett recommends using a texturising powder at the roots to add volume and grit. Through the mid-lengths apply a texturising spray to create some separation through the hair and rub a wax at the ends for definition.
